MUYIL

Muyil, the name comes from one of the two adjacent lagoons (Muyil and Chunyaxché). It was one of the most important cities within the protected reserve of Sian Ka’an, with a unique natural environment, which combines the lush vegetation and the turquoise blue water of the Caribbean Sea. It is one of the 20 most important archaeological sites for its size and quantity of architectural remains, represents an attractive place for those interested in knowing our history and living with nature. It reached its greatest development in the classic period, with constructions such as a temple of 17 meters high known as “El Castillo”. In that period, it had connection with “Coba” and “Ek Balam”.

This amazing place combines nature, culture and the blue sky! We boat across the lagoons of Muyil and Chunyaxche, to float down the canals the Mayan used for their trade route. And while here, you will experience a magical connection with the flora and fauna, and its surroundings!
